About Wownero
What is Wownero (WOW)?
Wownero is an independent cryptocurrency that grew out of Monero's software and launched on April 1, 2018. Its community combines private digital payments with memes, art and tipping. WOW is the native coin of the Wownero blockchain. The project takes its name and humor from internet meme culture, including Dogecoin, while its payment software comes from the CryptoNote and Monero family. WOW has its own network, wallets and transaction history.
What makes Wownero different?
Wownero combines mandatory transaction privacy, CPU mining and a limited issuance schedule. The project describes tipping meme creators as a central use case. Volunteers maintain its free and open-source software, and contributors can propose work through the Wownero Funding System. It launched without a premine or a developer tax on block rewards. Donations and community funding pay for work such as software development, artwork and translations.
How does Wownero mining work?
Wownero uses RandomWOW, a proof-of-work algorithm derived from RandomX and designed for general-purpose CPUs. Its mining design focuses on solo mining, and users can mine through a Wownero node. The network targets one block every five minutes. That interval describes the whole network: an individual solo miner may wait much longer to find a block, depending on their share of the mining power. Each node checks submitted blocks against the network's transaction and proof-of-work rules.
What information do WOW transactions conceal?
Ring signatures place the output being spent among decoys, one-time recipient addresses keep the public receiving address off the transaction record, and confidential transactions hide payment amounts. These protections apply to the public ledger. A sender knows the amount and destination of their own payment, and the receiving wallet can recognize the funds it receives. Sharing an address or transaction details with another person can therefore disclose information outside the blockchain.
How is WOW's supply managed?
Wownero's emission limit is approximately 184.467 million WOW. Mining rewards decline as issuance approaches that limit, and the code sets the final tail subsidy to zero. The project describes the emission schedule as lasting roughly fifty years. That is an approximate description of the schedule, since actual block arrival times vary. The limit includes coins still to be mined; it does not describe today's circulating balance.
How do I transfer or trade WOW on NonLogs?
Select the Wownero network and copy the WOW address from the receiving wallet or your current NonLogs deposit page. Check the transfer status and required confirmations there. Keep the sending wallet's transaction record so you can identify the payment if the recipient needs to investigate it. The markets below list the available WOW pairs. Select Trade to open a pair's order book and trading page. Prices and volumes in the trading-pairs table below come from completed NonLogs trades.
