About Pirate Chain

What is Pirate Chain (ARRR)?

Pirate Chain is an independent blockchain for private digital payments. It began on August 29, 2018, using Komodo's asset-chain software, which inherited privacy technology from Zcash. ARRR is its native currency. The project requires shielded transfers for ordinary payments between users. Its software ancestry explains the use of Zcash-derived proofs, while its own blockchain records ARRR balances and transactions.

What makes its privacy approach distinctive?

Ordinary peer-to-peer payments use shielded addresses and zk-SNARK proofs. These proofs let nodes verify a payment without revealing the sender's address, recipient's address or transferred amount. The project introduced Sapling addresses in its December 2018 network upgrade. The chain still records that transactions occurred. Coinbase rewards and notarization transactions have transparent elements, so the shielded-payment rule should not be read as a claim that every field of every network transaction is hidden.

How does the network verify payments?

Miners produce Pirate Chain blocks using Equihash proof of work, with a target interval of about one minute. Delayed proof of work, or dPoW, adds notarized checkpoints through Komodo infrastructure. Those checkpoints restrict changes to previously notarized history. Mining, notarization and shielded proofs perform different jobs: producing blocks, anchoring accepted history and proving payment validity. dPoW depends on the notary system and does not make the network immune to every attack.

What is ARRR's supply model?

Pirate Chain generally describes its maximum supply as approximately 200 million ARRR. Its published reward table totals about 199.109 million before accounting for coins made permanently unspendable. Mining began with a subsidy of 256 ARRR per block, with halvings every 388,885 blocks, approximately 270 days at the target block interval. The whitepaper records an additional 1,294,335 ARRR left locked in the old Sprout pool after the migration to Sapling.

How can a user inspect a shielded payment?

The receiving wallet scans the chain with its keys to find funds belonging to it and display payment details. Viewing keys allow an owner to disclose account information without giving someone the authority to spend. A public explorer can show transaction inclusion and network progress, but it cannot provide an ordinary public balance lookup for a shielded address. Keep the wallet's transaction record when checking a payment with its recipient.

How do I transfer or trade ARRR on NonLogs?

Use native ARRR on Pirate Chain and copy the destination from the receiving wallet or current NonLogs deposit page. Check that the receiving service supports the address and transfer method you are using. Consult the wallet's transaction status and the service's confirmation requirements after broadcasting. Choose an ARRR pair from the markets below and select Trade to open its order book. Prices and volumes in the trading-pairs table below come from completed NonLogs trades.
