About Litecoin

What is Litecoin (LTC)?

Litecoin is an open-source cryptocurrency launched in 2011. It adapts Bitcoin's transaction model into a separate blockchain with its own mining algorithm and issuance schedule. LTC is the native currency used for payments and transaction fees. Litecoin wallets sign transactions with cryptographic keys, and nodes independently check the resulting transfers. Ordinary transactions spend existing outputs and create new outputs for recipients, often returning the remaining value to the sender as change.

How is Litecoin different from Bitcoin?

Litecoin uses Scrypt proof of work and targets a block every two and a half minutes, compared with Bitcoin's ten-minute target. Its subsidy schedule permits about 84 million LTC. These timings are averages: mining can produce shorter or longer gaps between individual blocks. A Litecoin deposit also needs the confirmations required by the receiving service. A wallet's broadcast status shows that it has submitted a transaction, while confirmation means the transaction has entered a block.

Are Litecoin transfers private?

Ordinary Litecoin transactions have a public history, including amounts and the relationships between inputs and outputs. Litecoin also supports optional Mimblewimble Extension Blocks, or MWEB. Transfers within MWEB conceal amounts and use a different transaction structure, while movements between the transparent chain and MWEB expose the amounts entering or leaving it. Both the sending and receiving software need the appropriate support. An exchange's LTC listing alone does not establish which MWEB operations it accepts.

How is LTC issued?

Litecoin's initial block subsidy was 50 LTC. The subsidy halves every 840,000 blocks, approximately four years at the target block interval. Repeated halvings and rounding eventually bring new issuance to zero, with total scheduled issuance slightly below 84 million LTC. Transaction fees are paid from existing coins and are separate from the subsidy. Miners may collect both in the block they produce. The supply schedule counts coins issued on Litecoin, independently of Bitcoin's supply.

What should I check before transferring LTC?

Choose Litecoin mainnet and copy the address displayed on your current NonLogs LTC deposit page. Use a destination accepted by the withdrawal form when sending from NonLogs. If your wallet offers MWEB, check that the particular sending and receiving path is supported before using it. A transparent Litecoin address and an MWEB address serve different transaction paths. Keep the transaction identifier, and use a Litecoin explorer or compatible wallet to inspect confirmations.

Where can I trade LTC on NonLogs?

Available LTC pairs appear below. Select the Trade button for the currency you want to exchange with LTC. Prices in the trading-pairs table use the second currency in the pair, and charts on the trading pages show executions on that NonLogs market. Open the market to review its bids, offers and available quantities before entering an order. The latest trade can be older than the current order book, so its timestamp helps you assess how recently that displayed price was traded.
