About Dogecoin
What is Dogecoin (DOGE)?
Dogecoin is an open-source cryptocurrency created in 2013 with branding inspired by the Shiba Inu dog meme. Its community has used DOGE for online tipping, donations and payments. DOGE is the native coin of the Dogecoin blockchain. Wallets authorize transfers with cryptographic keys, while other participants verify them against the network's rules. The coin has its own transaction history and mining rewards, separate from tokens that use similar dog-themed names.
How does Dogecoin process payments?
Dogecoin uses Scrypt proof of work and supports auxiliary proof of work, commonly called merged mining. This allows compatible miners, including Litecoin miners, to contribute mining work to Dogecoin while mining another chain. Each network still checks its own blocks and issues its own coins. Dogecoin targets a block every minute. A transaction gains its first confirmation when included in a block, with further confirmations added as accepted blocks build on it.
Why does DOGE have no fixed maximum supply?
After its early reward reductions, Dogecoin's scheduled subsidy became 10,000 DOGE per block. There is no further halving or final supply cap in that schedule. At one block per minute, this amounts to about 5.256 billion new DOGE over a 365-day year. Actual annual issuance depends on how many blocks are mined. As the total supply grows, the same number of newly issued coins represents a smaller percentage of the existing supply.
Are Dogecoin transactions private?
Dogecoin's ledger records transactions publicly. Someone inspecting a payment can see its inputs, outputs and amounts, although addresses do not directly state the owner's name. A wallet may combine several previously received outputs to make one payment and return leftover value as change. Publishing an address or repeatedly using it can connect that activity to an identity. Dogecoin's meme-based branding and a wallet's account nickname do not change what is visible on the blockchain.
What should I check before transferring DOGE?
Select Dogecoin mainnet and use the address shown on your current NonLogs DOGE deposit page. Wrapped DOGE on another blockchain and other dog-themed tokens are separate assets. The sending service must support withdrawal over the native Dogecoin network. Check the network selection as well as the address and amount before confirming. Keep the transaction identifier so the payment can be inspected on Dogecoin's chain if you need to check its confirmations.
Where can I trade DOGE on NonLogs?
The DOGE pairs below link to their trading pages. Each pair's price expresses one unit of its first asset in the second currency, so prices with different quote currencies use different units. Charts on the trading pages record completed trades on NonLogs. Open a market to see the available bids, offers and order sizes before placing an order. The most recent trade may be old in a quiet pair, so check its timestamp alongside the current orders.
