About DigiByte
What is DigiByte (DGB)?
DigiByte is an open-source blockchain launched in January 2014. DGB is its native currency, used for payments and network transaction fees. The project also includes DigiAssets for issuing digital assets and Digi-ID for authentication. These applications use different functions within the wider ecosystem. The NonLogs DGB listing represents the native currency; support for a separate issued asset or an identity application depends on the software and service handling that application.
How does DigiByte mining work?
DigiByte uses five proof-of-work algorithms: SHA-256d, Scrypt, Skein, Qubit and Odocrypt. Miners produce blocks using one of the supported algorithms, and nodes verify each block under DigiByte's consensus rules. The network targets one block every fifteen seconds overall. Odocrypt changes its hashing design at scheduled ten-day intervals. The algorithms contribute to the same DigiByte blockchain and DGB supply. Different mining hardware and software are needed for the different algorithms.
What do DigiAssets and Digi-ID do?
DigiAssets provides tools for creating and transferring digital assets using DigiByte transactions. An asset can have its own name, supply and metadata, while DGB pays the underlying transaction fees. Digi-ID uses cryptographic signatures for authentication with supporting services. A user proves control of a key without sending that private key to the service. Owning DGB on an exchange does not create a DigiAsset or configure a Digi-ID wallet; each requires the appropriate application.
How is DigiByte's supply managed?
DigiByte publishes an issuance limit of 21 billion DGB. Its current subsidy formula reduces the reward by about 1.116% for each protocol month, calculated from elapsed blocks and the target block interval. The source multiplies the reward by 0.98884 at each step and rounds in atomic units. Once the calculated subsidy falls below one DGB, it becomes zero. Mining fees come from existing DGB. A current circulating-supply figure also depends on the chain's issuance history.
Are DGB transfers private, and which network should I use?
Ordinary DigiByte payments are visible on its public ledger, including transaction amounts and links between spent outputs and new ones. Digi-ID authentication does not make these payments confidential. For a NonLogs deposit, send native DGB over DigiByte mainnet to the address on your current deposit page. A DigiAsset or a token on another chain has separate handling requirements. Keep the transaction identifier to inspect whether the native DGB payment has been included in a block.
Where can I trade DGB on NonLogs?
Available DGB markets appear below with links to their trading pages. The second currency in each pair is the price's quote unit. Charts on the trading pages show trades completed in that NonLogs market. Use the current bids, offers and order quantities when choosing an order price. A short target block interval describes blockchain timing; it does not determine how frequently a trading pair has executions or how much DGB is available at a displayed price.
