What is Bitcoin (BTC)?
Bitcoin is a digital payment network introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto and launched in 2009. BTC is its native currency, divisible into 100 million satoshis per bitcoin. People authorize transfers with cryptographic keys, while participants independently check a shared transaction history. Wallet software keeps track of the keys and the coins they can spend. Bitcoin's rules are implemented in open-source software that node operators choose to run.
How are transactions confirmed?
A wallet signs a transaction and broadcasts it to other network participants. Miners use SHA-256 proof of work to propose blocks, and full nodes check their transactions and issuance against Bitcoin's rules. The protocol targets one block every ten minutes on average; individual blocks can arrive sooner or later. Additional blocks increase the work needed to replace earlier history. Congestion and the fee offered can affect when a transaction is included.
Is Bitcoin anonymous?
Bitcoin's ledger is public. Addresses do not directly contain a person's name, but transaction amounts and the links between spent and newly created outputs are visible. Reusing an address or publishing it alongside identifying information can reveal who controls it. A transaction can also contain a change output returning unspent value to the sender. Fresh receiving addresses reduce address reuse, although transaction analysis and records held by services can still link activity.
How is Bitcoin's supply limited?
Bitcoin began with a subsidy of 50 BTC per block. The subsidy halves every 210,000 blocks, and integer rounding eventually reduces it to zero. This schedule limits total scheduled issuance to slightly less than 21 million BTC. Transaction fees transfer existing coins to miners and do not add to supply. Lost private keys can make coins inaccessible, so the issuance limit is different from the amount available for spending or trading.
What should I check before transferring BTC?
Select Bitcoin mainnet and copy the address from your current NonLogs BTC deposit page. Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV and BTCB2 have separate chains and balances; wrapped BTC tokens also require their own networks. Some forks share Bitcoin address formats, so the appearance of an address alone cannot identify the receiving chain. Check the destination's network and supported address type before sending. Keep the transaction identifier to look up the payment's outputs and confirmations.

BTC markets appear below with a Trade button for each available pair. Each pair prices its first asset in the second currency, so BTC can appear on either side of a pair. Prices and charts on each trading page come from completed NonLogs trades. Check the time of the latest trade and the current order book when choosing a price. A previous execution can remain on the chart after the orders available at that price have changed.
