About Beldex

What is Beldex (BDX)?

Beldex is a blockchain project for confidential payments and communication services. BDX is its native coin. Its software grew from Monero, and the project later added masternodes and changed its consensus system. Beldex's applications include the BChat messenger, BelNet networking software, Beldex Browser and Beldex Wallet. The blockchain and those applications share parts of the masternode infrastructure, with different software handling payments, messages and network traffic.

What gives Beldex its privacy features?

Beldex uses ring signatures, stealth addresses and Ring Confidential Transactions, or RingCT. Ring signatures group a spending output with decoys to obscure which one was spent. Stealth addresses create a one-time destination key for a payment, while RingCT hides its amount. The recipient's wallet uses its keys to detect incoming funds. Participants still know the details of their own payments, and a service can retain records connecting its customers to deposits or withdrawals.

How does its proof-of-stake system work?

Beldex transitioned to proof of stake in December 2021. Masternodes generate and validate blocks, and the network targets a block every 30 seconds. Operators register a node and lock BDX as collateral; multiple contributors can fund a node together. They must also provide the computing, storage and network resources required by the masternode software. A participant's rewards depend on the node's eligibility and the network's reward rules.

What is BDX used for?

BDX pays transaction fees, transfers value between wallets and provides collateral for masternodes. Block rewards issue new BDX to support the network and project funding. The Beldex Name Service also uses BDX fees to register readable names that can refer to wallet addresses, BChat identities or BelNet services. Staking requires a registered contribution to a masternode. Holding BDX in a trading account does not register such a contribution.

How do the communication tools relate to the coin?

BChat uses Beldex's node infrastructure to relay encrypted messages. BelNet routes traffic through an onion-routing network, and Beldex Browser incorporates BelNet. These are separate applications with their own connection and software requirements. A BDX transfer uses the blockchain's transaction protections; the messaging and browsing features require the corresponding applications. Their existence alone does not make other activity on a user's device private.

How do I transfer or trade BDX on NonLogs?

Select native Beldex and copy the BDX address from the receiving wallet or current NonLogs deposit page. Check the status and confirmation requirements shown there. Funds committed to a masternode follow separate unlocking rules, so check the wallet's spendable balance before preparing a transfer. Select a BDX pair from the markets below, then choose Trade to open its order book. The prices and volumes in the trading-pairs table below come from completed NonLogs trades.
